Management School
The University of Sheffield is ranked 15th in the UK and 97th in the world according to the THE World University Rankings (2016-18) and acknowledged as being in the top 10% of all UK universities in terms of research excellence (REF, 2014). Hosting over 26000 students, the University has 7772 postgraduate students (27% from overseas). ReTraCE project management will be based in the Sheffield University Management School (SUMS), which is ranked among the top 1% of business schools globally (thanks to the triple Equis, AACSB and AAMBA accreditation). The Management school faculty boasts over 100 academic staff within a modern infrastructure. SUMS also has a fully equipped dedicated ESR research facility housing over 30 doctoral researchers.
Participating Staff
Prof Andrea Genovese, Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Head of Divisions of the Operations Management and Decision Sciences will coordinate the network and lead the node. He has leading expertise in sustainable management and in the development of decision support systems, having widely published in leading international journals. He has led work-packages in successful European-funded projects and jointly overseen the development of the Supply Chain Environmental Analysis Tool (SCEnAT). He will serve as Project Coordinator and supervise ESRs.
Prof. S.C. Lenny Koh, (Director of the Advanced Resource Efficiency Centre), has expertise in SC and CE low carbon initiatives, resource efficiency and operations management. Sfe is extremely well published (having an H-Index of 43) and sits on many journal editorial boards; she will participate in ESR training.
Prof. David Oglethorpe is a renowned environmental economist and Dean of the Sheffield University Management School (SUMS). His expertise extends to environmental sustainability, food and water economics; he will participate in ESR training.
Dr Sonal Choudhary will provide additional methodological support to ESRs in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility System Thinking and related methodologies.
Prof. Andrew Simpson is an expert in decision support operationalisation, lean solutions and operations modelling in supply chains; he also serves as Associate Dean for External Relations within the school; his role will help maximising the impact of the project.
Additional support will be provided by Prof. Tim Vorley (Associate Dean for Research and Impact of the Management School) and by Dr Antonino Sgalambro,Director of Research Operations Management and Decision Sciences, who will bring to the project additional expertise in the fields of optimisation and decision sciences.
