Input-Output Analysis for Circular Economy research: what is to be done? with Dr. José Bruno Fevereiro

The transition to a circular economy involves economy-wide changes affecting a large variety of economic sectors and actors, across complex global supply chains. Multiregional input−output (MRIO) analysis provides a useful approach for assessing this transition, tracking material flows across increasingly fragmented international supply chains. However, MRIO data is often reported at a very aggregated level; as such, compared to other environmental applications, the adoption of IO in circular economy research has been relatively scarce so far. In this talk, we will first provide a classification of how MRIO analysis has been adopted in circular economy research; open challenges will be highlighted, along with a research agenda and a research plan which will be developed within the JUST2CE project.

Dr. José Bruno Ramos Torres Fevereiro is a research associate who has recently joined Sheffield University Management School, working within the JUST2CE project. José Bruno holds a BA and a MS degree in Economics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. In 2022, José Bruno completed his PhD at The Open University Business School. His research expertise includes political economy, structural economic dynamics, macroeconomics, Input-Output analysis.
